Participating in the Trust Index™
You're invited to participate in the Trust Index, the employee survey of Great Place To Work. On this page, you'll learn more about the survey, discover how participating will benefit you, and find answers to frequently asked questions.
What is the Trust Index?
The Trust Index is our employee survey that measures trust, pride and joy in your organization. The survey maps three relationships in which you, the employee, are central.
The Trust Index consists of 60 statements, 2 open questions, 5 demographic questions and 3 multiple choice questions. Your organization may add additional questions of its own to the survey.
With a Trust Index score of 70% or higher, your company is Great Place To Work-Certified™. This certification is 100% based on your voice and that of your colleagues.

How does participating benefit you?
Everyone wants to work at a great place to work. A place where trust is key and where everyone is seen, heard and valued, no matter who you are or what you do.
Your participation in the Trust Index not only contributes to the improvement of your organization as a workplace but also provides invaluable insights. It helps uncover blind spots and equips you with tangible tools to collaborate effectively within your organizational culture. This research is particularly vital because organizations may sometimes lack awareness of ongoing issues or struggle with determining the best approaches to address them.
By participating in the Trust Index you personally contribute to a supportive working environment. Creating a place where you can truly be yourself, where mistakes are accepted as part of growth, and where you're encouraged to unleash your full potential.
So in the end, you have a lot to gain from completing the survey openly and honestly and then playing a role in the follow-up.
Here's how participating works
1. Invitation
You will receive a personal invitation by email to complete the survey.
2. Complete
You have two weeks to complete the survey. You can do this via your computer, but also with a tablet or smartphone.
3. Results and follow-up
Afterwards, your organization shares the results and you work together to identify areas for improvement.
Frequently asked questions
We believe that organizations improve through honest feedback from their employees. Therefore, we do everything possible to handle your responses as confidentially as possible. We ensure that your answers cannot be linked to you by your manager. Once the survey closes, the link between you and your answers is broken. Your organization can only view aggregated data from groups larger than 5 respondents.
After the survey, your organization can view the results in Emprising. This online platform has rules for displaying and filtering the outcomes to protect confidentiality. For example, it is not possible to view results from groups smaller than five respondents.
Please note: your responses to open-ended questions will be included verbatim in the report seen by your organization. Therefore, do not provide your name or other identifiable information in these answers. More information about confidentiality can be found here.
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Your answers are saved automatically. You have two weeks to complete the survey.
No, you are not required to participate. Nor should your organization force you to take the survey. If it does, please let us know using this form.
A great place to work is a great workplace for everyone, regardless of who you are or what you do. Even though you're not obligated to participate, there is a minimum response rate based on the number of employees invited. This way, we ensure that the survey results are representative of all employees.
Our research shows that great workplaces have great business leaders who foster a great experience in their department and create a great experience of the business overall.
Most employees are involved in projects, cross-team collaboration, development within their teams and other experiences where they interact with many different managers. Those leaders can create a great workplace experience, or not. So, when thinking about the definition of management, we want employees to be thinking about the totality of their experience with all management in the company.
So survey takers should consider their overall experience with all management in the company, not just their direct supervisor.
Even if an employee has limited cross-functional experience, they are probably also interacting and collaborating with their leader’s leader from time to time. If the survey asked only about employee’s direct supervisor or senior leader experiences, the results would miss out on the totality of management that is necessary to run a company.
To gather more specific data on the perception of a specific level of leadership, customers with Analyze or Accelerate subscriptions may add additional survey statements to measure those relationships.
